Elaine Alexander
Hi, I’m Elaine.
I work with people carrying grief, including the complicated kind that follows a suicide loss. I also work with people who feel stuck in their relationships or are dating and haven’t found what they’re looking for yet.
Many of the people I work with look like they have it together. And in many ways, they do. But privately, they’re exhausted and lonely. They’ve spent so long managing other people’s moods, choosing their words carefully, and shrinking themselves to keep the peace that they’ve lost touch with who they actually are underneath all of that. They might be surrounded by people and still feel profoundly alone, unseen in the relationships that are supposed to matter most. And underneath everything, there’s a fear they don’t always say out loud: that this is just how it will always be, and that they’ll end up alone.
Before I became a therapist, I spent twenty years as an entrepreneur while navigating burnout, financial pressure, losing a family member to suicide, and becoming a wife and mother in my 40s. I know what it means to keep going when life is heavy.
My approach is attachment-based and trauma-informed, with additional training in Trauma of Money, Timeline Therapy, and Hypnotherapy. Sessions are conversational and about understanding the patterns you’re ready to stop repeating.

Intern, RP(Q)
I am a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology student at Yorkville University, working toward registration as a psychotherapist under the supervision of Aline Maia, Registered Psychotherapist (MA, M.Ed, CC-PMH).
I am passionate about supporting adults, particularly those navigating pregnancy, postpartum, and the early years of parenting, through periods of transition, overwhelm, and identity change. Becoming a parent can bring profound joy, but it can also surface anxiety, grief, burnout, and a sense of losing oneself. As a mother of three and a trained Birth Support Companion, I understand firsthand how emotionally complex this season of life can be, and how much support it can take just to feel steady again.
Before entering the counselling field, I worked in both nonprofit and corporate settings. These experiences shaped my understanding of resilience, burnout, competing demands, and the pressure many people feel to “hold everything together” while quietly struggling. This perspective continues to inform my work with clients who are balancing caregiving, work, relationships, and their own well-being.
My approach is warm, collaborative, and tailored to each client. Grounded in person-centred therapy, I integrate attachment-based perspectives, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and nervous system–informed approaches to support emotional regulation, connection, and meaningful change. My goal is to create a space where you can show up exactly as you are and feel supported in taking gentle, practical steps forward.
I provide virtual sessions on Wednesdays and Thursdays to clients across Ontario and in-person on Fridays in Ottawa.
